Industrial automation is the use of any mechanical or electro-electronic device in order to control machines and processes. Among the electro-electronic devices, we can use computers or other logic devices (such as programmable logic controllers or PLCs), replacing some of the human labor tasks and performing other that man can not accomplish.
It is a step beyond mechanization, through which man can afford more important and indispensable machinery.
